The new challenges facing the next generations in the conservation of our planet has increased environmental awareness and the possibility of reinforcing from the school a more experiential and practical education that prioritizes healthy environments has become an initiative of some schools of our Peru.

Winner of the National Environmental Achievement Award
Thanks to the implementation of environmental programs in their pedagogy, they managed to overcome the classification process in which 15,000 schools in the country participated, imposing themselves in both the regional and national categories.
The idea of the director of the school, Henry Sinchitullo, was born from a conversation about how to take better advantage of the available areas of the institution. It is so, little by little, parents, students and teachers began to work in these spaces to transform them into fertile fields of sowing.
Currently, students are dedicated to the production of bananas for their consumption and marketing. They also take care of the irrigation and maintenance of medicinal, ornamental, edible and aromatic plants through an eco-efficient use of water and proper waste management
Santa Clara (Arequipa)
“San Francisco de Asís Ecological Complex” project. With this, they won a national recognition of Environmental Achievements, an award granted by the Ministry of Education
Initiative promoted by Fray Juan José Alania Espinoza in his position as director in 2015, preparing this project for 2016 to be executed.
The parents and teachers organized themselves and placed metal plates on the wall of the complex and then lined it with raschel mesh. In that material, small compartments were used to put vegetation. Now there are more than a thousand ornamental plants that adorn it. Also, the floor was covered with grass and myóporos (trees) were placed to have natural fences.
Euro-American (Pachacamac – Lima)
The Euroamerican College school practices an environmentalist pedagogy, teaching children to take care of nature, its environment and especially water, a vital element for human beings that is increasingly scarce.
The large garden that maintains and demand a high amount of vital liquid, by plantations, can be maintained thanks to the treatment plant which has a biological filter consisting of a room with river stones inoculated with algae that perform a second Water treatment. Then, the liquid continues its journey towards channels with aquatic plants that shade the water, preventing the bacteria from surviving and purifying the vital liquid for the third time. The result is transparent and bacteria-free water. This water that was thought useless for any use is used to water the gardens.
